In the spring of 2020, XANT Renewables BV – designer and manufacturer of distributed wind solutions for microgrid and off-grid/remote markets – joined forces with Eocycle Technologies Inc., designer and manufacturers of certified high-performance distributed wind turbines.

Now that the corporate merger is complete, XANT– based out of Belgium – will be officially changing the company name to Eocycle Europe BV. It joins Eocycle Technologies Inc. in Canada, Eocycle America Corporation in the United-States and Eocycle UK Ltd. to serve customers on both sides of the Atlantic and beyond.

Following Eocycle’s recent acquisitions in the distributed wind markets, the merger firmly positions them as a strong global Distributed Energy Resources (DER) company offering seamless, end-to-end distributed wind solutions and services – from project development to turnkey construction and long-term asset operation.

Both XANT’s and Eocycle’s products are uniquely complementary thanks to similar wind turbine designs that focus on reliability without compromising performance.

• Eocycle’s patented Transverse Flux Permanent Magnet (20 – 30 kW) generator technology means they can produce more compact distributed wind turbines requiring fewer moving parts. These provide significantly more energy than competitor products at low rotational speeds and without the contribution of a gearbox.
• XANT’s midsize wind turbines (90 – 100kW), geared for remote off-grid markets, are designed for microgrid applications with a special focus on harsh operating conditions. They fit in 40ft containers and can be erected without a crane. Their turbines have the capability of active power curtailment and can be equipped with integrated energy storage to allow for a high penetration rate.

In addition to providing access to a wider range of turbines – from 20kW to 100 kW – the merger also means that customers can expect to see more product and service improvements. The supply chain is being integrated while standardizing components, which will unlock additional value for customers and investors alike.
